Colinas Del Sol sits on the open prairie southeast of Lamy, in Santa Fe County. The subdivision is reached primarily from Avenida de Compadres, a shared private road that runs along the community's eastern edge.

From Avenida de Compadres, the neighborhood is served by its own interior road — Colinas del Sol — a shared private road that loops through the lots. Colinas del Sol is owned in common and maintained by the Association, so its upkeep, grading, and snow clearing are an HOA responsibility rather than the County's.
