Our night skies
Dark Sky
Keeping the stars over Colinas Del Sol bright.
New Mexico is one of the best places in the country to see the stars, and Santa Fe County works to keep it that way. Colinas Del Sol sits under especially dark skies, and residents help preserve them with responsible outdoor lighting — fixtures that are fully shielded, aimed downward, no brighter than needed, and warm-white rather than harsh blue in color.
Good lighting keeps the Milky Way visible, is easier on wildlife and neighbors, and keeps our lots in step with county and state rules. Exterior lighting is one of the things the Architectural Control Committee weighs when reviewing improvements.
